To answer your questions, here are a few answers:
- Diction: The kind of words I use are American, meaning I use small, modern words.
- Sentence structure: I sometimes write complex sentences with lots of subordinate clause and commas, too. Sometimes I write simple sentences with lots of prepositions, such as “and” and “but”.
- Imagery: I do not use sensory information in my writing but tend to write in abstractions, which would lead more confusion to readers than necessary.
- Rhythm: I do not pay attention to how people speak because I do not always hear what they are saying. I try to mimic speech rhythmes in my writing and put those into “blockquotes”. Sometimes I do try to write long, flowing sentences once and that was because it was a true story. Other blog entrys are staccato as in my poetry. The forceful sentences are more angry in tone as some readers are well aware. So in essence I do mix it up a bit when I blog.
- Repetition: I cannot work to reduce repetition of words and phrase types because some blog entries are mundane, such as the weather. As far as trying to emphasize them for rhetorical (or musical, or other) purposes, I do NOT know what that means.
- Flow. Depending on my mood at the time of writing a blog entry, I do NOT write highly linear, logical prose in which one thought flows from another but rather I do you skip about and tend to leave impressions rather than direct pathways toward your conclusions or stories. For examples, butterflies don’t fly in a straight line; surfers cannot catch a wave that is straight and drivers, too, travel on roads that sometimes wind.
In summary, my style varies. I cannot think of ways in which I write differently for different audiences: That would require registering several WordPress.com weblogs. And I am finding that one weblog is already too much to handle. Writing style should matter to bloggers. Remember there is the TOA to consider when blogging out loud.
