At around 5:00pm, I arrived home from work where I found the twosome. Both just came home from two or three doctor’s appointment. For one hour, Maw and I prepared the “pancit noodles” for everyone to enjoy. None of the noodles was left when Paw and I left the party at around 10:50pm tonight.
The Christmas party was held up in Pleasanton, CA off the Livermore 84 (21B) exit from HWY 680. I actually “veered away” from the exit initially and had to travel an extra two miles one way, just to get back to the mysteriously missed exit. That took about ten minutes of travel after one hour and fifteen minutes of traffic in the rain STORM earlier.
The Livermore exit was long and winding and very dark. There were no streetlights to mark the ways and the first intersection with a four-corner streetlight marked the area of a gated community. There were not high electrical towers either. Only the bright and blinding headlights coming from the opposite direction made driving less safe.
After making a left into the gated community, the security guard took down my last name and looked into her computer, smiled back at me through the window and raised the arm blocking our way in front. We took another left and saw the well lighted front house of blue reindeers and such.
Roy, his wife and child seemed to be waiting in the darkened front porch. The door bell works off and on. Paw and I waited in line to be let in and of course the guest host was John. He was a great host, offered cream for my coffee, which he helped dispense too. The wife didn’t know us and didn’t bother talking or entertaining us shorter minorities.
Paw and I sat at the quieter dining area with Erica and her white husband. Bobby and JenJen later joined us with Gary munching happily away at one miniature cupcake. I found out he went through two divorces and one girlfriend four months ago. I’m good at triggering people’s vulnerabilities.
I swear JenJen needs the job to support her family. I don’t think Hoan could get along with JenJen. For whatever reason, the guy didn’t make the party but seemed to only make a decision after I provided him my thoughts after emailing back and forth. In one email, he wanted a carpool, which Paw wouldn’t appreciate. There is something terribly wrong with Hoan – a persistent little pest.
Tomorrow the three of us, including Nam, will be working to work on a backlog of work. I take that as a cue to leave early from the party so that we could rest for the next day.
