I’m trying theme Alara again

20221020-1818. So far this is the only theme that has customized the user’s post.php page! While blogging, I can see the background is the warm beige cream color; while the typography for both the post_title and post_content are HUGE and a great benefit for us elderly folks with poor eyesights.

Once again, I tweaked the Appearance with the Gutenberg Site-Editor. The layout has already been saved when I was working with this theme in the past: So editing was made easier.

I have to mediate on duplicate pages that were automatically generated by the system when the user switches themes and or accounts: The Homepage is supposed to be “Front page”; while the Posts page is supposed to be a page called “Blog”. But I reverted these published pages back to Draft mode.

So instead of these two static pages, I opted for the Readings Settings to display my homepage as “Your latest posts”. After all I believe this is what WordPress is all about – blogging – until it expanded its stuff towards more professional business ventures. I can’t keep up.

For each blog pages and syndication feeds, I just left three items since the fonts are HUGE! And instead of Excerpts, I allowed Fully summary for those who rather quick read instead of reading more.

I may switch back to the parent page. But for some odd reason, I’m still seeing: “Installing Theme: Seedlet 1.1.13”. It’s stuck for almost half an hour! So instead of one installed theme, I believe the Blank Canvas was also installed. I don’t get it.

I’m trying to reduce the number of critical error messages and assumed that the themes are affecting the Site Health reports. Whatever. I’m NOT a professional who would know how to manage such stuff. I just needed to access my countless customized email aliases connected with my domain.

So I was having difficulty connecting the Jetpack to the WordPress.com account and encountered lots of error messages. I guess this is part of the propagation between self-hosted and automated platforms. I’m learning that managing stuff is tough business! I’m lost!

Oh and back to the appearance of my blog. Instead of the dark mode, this theme is a warm mode; so those who can’t read when the fonts are light and the background is dark would find this to be a comfortable color combination.

So I set the redundant pages “Front” and “Home” and “Blog” to Draft mode in case I’ll need it later and since those static pages are taken cared of through the header and footer.

So I have used a Pattern called Pricing Table, which has three columns and three columns and two headers one larger on top and smaller beneath it and then the bulleted listed items, which I used for my blogroll links and my sites, too! That is now located in the footer. So no matter what pages y’all view, the footer will have my blogroll and links for y’all to visit!

That’s it for now. I may switch the site back to them Seedlet because I still miss the dark background and green link color combination.

And as for connecting my blog posts to my social media site(s), that’s NOT gonna happen because that stuff is for the paid Upgrade, along with security and backup features. I could try but then this is different; since I’m on a self-hosted site and I’m left on my own to manage the issues as THEY arise. And I just do NOT have the knowledge or patient to deal with all that stuff.

That’s all. FlynnsPaws.
