  • Trying newest default theme

20221106-1823. After struggling to make my beautiful weblog site perfect, I-AM still NOT happy but it will have to do until I have nothing else to do. I just like playing around with the colors and layouts, okay?!

    Twenty Twenty-ThreeVersion: 1.0

    By the WordPress team

“Twenty Twenty-Three is designed to take advantage of the new design tools introduced in WordPress 6.1. With a clean, blank base as a starting point, this default theme includes ten diverse style variations created by members of the WordPress community. Whether you want to build a complex or incredibly simple website, you can do it quickly and intuitively through the bundled styles or dive into creation and full customization yourself.”

While I liked theme Alara and its HUGE text/topography, I needed to use something that is more stable or “default”. This “roll-out” is a god-send! Because my server and hosting stuff was glitching because I wouldn’t stop changing my DNS records!

And so there are eleven styles, meaning Topography, Colors and Layout.

    • Default
    • Aubergine
    • Block Out
    • Canary
    • Electric
    • Grapes
    • Marigold
    • Pilgrimage
    • Pitch
    • Sherbet
    • Whisper

These are electric colors, meaning your eyeballs will hurt from the brightness.

The only normal looking styles would be the Default and the one that I chose: the Grapes, which is a puke., pea green soup color, a muted naturally-toned, earthy brownish slate.

    That’s all. FlynnsPaws.

  • Back to Dark Theme

20221029-0133. Just the way I like it: Dark Theme with black background like most Bibles and with light fonts! I could NOT help it! I had to revert back to the Blockbase theme, which is my favorite and free, too, just in case I decide to downgrade to a free site with no domain or paid plan!

Earlier today I had a live chatting session with one of the staff. I tried to explain that my favorite CSV importer plug-in did NOT work for one field key header code but to no help, except learning a few points that I should already know.

Anyways, after reverting back to my appropriate black book theme and dark blue color, I finally realized what the staff mentioned but I was too stubborn to understand:-

That I could simply edit the Default Template (or Page template which Displays a single page) for the 31,103 static pages or biblical verses instead of trying force something that no longer works when using the CSV importer plug-in!

Then after meditating rather quickly, I saw that I could simply (again) use the Header and Footer Only template for seventeen of my OLD, resurrected, static pages, which are about me, my site, and my ministry pages, which contain mostly religious sarcasm in poetic form.

I also used the Header and Footer Only template for sixty-six of the KJV bibles, each sporting its own Featured Image. The placement of the Feature Images created on Photoshop 2022 is nicely centered and colorful too with the gradient red and blue blending together nicely.

Now for my front, home, landing page I used the Footer Only template, which worked VERY nicely. I used the Block Pattern called Quote, which shows the blue birdie that looks eerily similar to the Twitter bird ALSO facing to the right and then the random Psalms quote from somewhere online!

The randomizer was what inspired me to take on this biblical project which I stuck on the “Paws” site but appropriately enough I remember my predecessor domain which is now this “Angels” site. And it seems appropriate because that’s what I wanted.

I already yeeted my OLD blogs last year or so and took a hiatus from blogging but continued ranting on Twitter and then decided to come back here to start the project while debating if I should complain and whine or rant and rave.

So I liked the footer and header much better now. Both should contain the new navigation menu showing Home, Blog, About, Pages, Welcome, and then my two Social Media accounts.

I forced or at least convinced myself that a small rounded Site Icon like the Twitter bird should be fine on the upper left hand corner of the site; while leaving the Site Title is normal and Site Tagline is a hoot.

Yeah, so that’s it for this site. The meat and potatoes is the latest Blog or recent Posts, the random verse generator, and the static Page listing all my customized static pages from many slong years ago.

Oh, yeah, I also deactivated my Twitter account, where I mostly view memes, fact and history on math, science and engineering. Other than that I really do NOT do much except Reply with my comedic quotes. I simply got sick and tired of multi-tasking. I’ve all but stopped watching news and now listening (kinda sorta) to Biblical audios.

I was thinking about recording for EACH random verses! That’s thousands of verses. That should keep me busy! I was already thinking about that one as inspired by these Biblical audios and of course from my favorite podcaster who just yesterday posted something about CHEMTRAILS! Now I wonder who that guy REALLY is. I’m curious now more than ever!

    That’s all. FlynnsPaws.

  • I’m trying theme Alara again

20221020-1818. So far this is the only theme that has customized the user’s post.php page! While blogging, I can see the background is the warm beige cream color; while the typography for both the post_title and post_content are HUGE and a great benefit for us elderly folks with poor eyesights.

Once again, I tweaked the Appearance with the Gutenberg Site-Editor. The layout has already been saved when I was working with this theme in the past: So editing was made easier.

I have to mediate on duplicate pages that were automatically generated by the system when the user switches themes and or accounts: The Homepage is supposed to be “Front page”; while the Posts page is supposed to be a page called “Blog”. But I reverted these published pages back to Draft mode.

So instead of these two static pages, I opted for the Readings Settings to display my homepage as “Your latest posts”. After all I believe this is what WordPress is all about – blogging – until it expanded its stuff towards more professional business ventures. I can’t keep up.

For each blog pages and syndication feeds, I just left three items since the fonts are HUGE! And instead of Excerpts, I allowed Fully summary for those who rather quick read instead of reading more.

I may switch back to the parent page. But for some odd reason, I’m still seeing: “Installing Theme: Seedlet 1.1.13”. It’s stuck for almost half an hour! So instead of one installed theme, I believe the Blank Canvas was also installed. I don’t get it.

I’m trying to reduce the number of critical error messages and assumed that the themes are affecting the Site Health reports. Whatever. I’m NOT a professional who would know how to manage such stuff. I just needed to access my countless customized email aliases connected with my domain.

So I was having difficulty connecting the Jetpack to the WordPress.com account and encountered lots of error messages. I guess this is part of the propagation between self-hosted and automated platforms. I’m learning that managing stuff is tough business! I’m lost!

Oh and back to the appearance of my blog. Instead of the dark mode, this theme is a warm mode; so those who can’t read when the fonts are light and the background is dark would find this to be a comfortable color combination.

So I set the redundant pages “Front” and “Home” and “Blog” to Draft mode in case I’ll need it later and since those static pages are taken cared of through the header and footer.

So I have used a Pattern called Pricing Table, which has three columns and three columns and two headers one larger on top and smaller beneath it and then the bulleted listed items, which I used for my blogroll links and my sites, too! That is now located in the footer. So no matter what pages y’all view, the footer will have my blogroll and links for y’all to visit!

That’s it for now. I may switch the site back to them Seedlet because I still miss the dark background and green link color combination.

And as for connecting my blog posts to my social media site(s), that’s NOT gonna happen because that stuff is for the paid Upgrade, along with security and backup features. I could try but then this is different; since I’m on a self-hosted site and I’m left on my own to manage the issues as THEY arise. And I just do NOT have the knowledge or patient to deal with all that stuff.

    That’s all. FlynnsPaws.

  • New theme again. Tweaked!

20220929-1339. Okay, I’ve been changing themes again. I wanted a VERY simple two to three column layout like Twatter but I need more color and larger fonts! So I’m trying Alara Version 1.3.8 by UXL Themes again. It has warm tones and vintage feels for photography, I guess.

I didn’t know how to code Additional CSS because I couldn’t understand which elements to pull-up with the inspected “WP Blocks” view. I used to annoy the readers by changing my layouts: colors, fonts; column, whatever. But I was having fun because I didn’t have much to blog about.

Yeah so, this theme is more workable, easy to edit and more stable than the OLD predecessors, such as Kubrick2 and the like. I activated and tried to customize Kubrick2 but did NOT know the CSS coding for the paragraph or line height. I still don’t know how to edit the “div” elements. Everything else looks normal.

Maybe I’ll upload my choral videos here since my domain should last ten years! Yeah, I bought that much ahead of time at a discount! As long as the WordPress.org stuff is updated and the bugs are dealt with swiftly but surely, I’ll be okay with this self-hosted NON-PROFIT weblog site.

    That’s all. FlynnsPaws.

    To Madame Mews,

Behold! I’m trying a new theme and Nyan Cat is properly framed for your eye candy! I’m trying a ‘Featured’ color palette with a purple background. I’m sure you will be pleased to know that my horrible, terrible rants are no longer shown as excerpts but displayed for your ‘speed reading’, if any.

  • 20120401-Trying Theme

I’ve been getting really ticked/bored. One because of the TPTB and pals, namely Pete. Two because of the WordPress.com themes. Three because of being me.

Anyway, I’ve tried several FREE WordPress.com themes. What I’d like for the upcoming Twenty-Twelve theme are the following amenities:

    • Excerpts everywhere.
    • Time stamps everywhere.
    • Date stamps everywhere.
    • ALL the post format features with nice icons to click on for each “Type”.
    • Three menus – primary, secondary and footer.
    • Widgets for header/footer(s), left/right sidebars, index/search/archive pages, post/single view pages, categories/tags pages, everywhere.
    • Infinite scrolling!
    • Responsive layout!
    • Slidebar for “Featured Images”.
    • Theme options for different layouts, colors, backgrounds, headers, everywhere.
    • Archives and Links templates and other nice templates you can think of for static pages.
    • Condensed widget for recent comments/posts, top clicks/pages/posts/rated, everything.

So now I’m back to the Nuntius theme by team Automattic.

  • 20120224-Trying Theme

Once again, I’m bored and had to try out yet another Premium Theme. This time it is:

    Likes:

    • Default gray color and readability of fonts.
    • Three customized top/menu bars.
      • Top Menu.
      • Primary Menu.
      • Action Menu.
    • Choice between left/right sidebar (or none if widgets are not used).
    • No tags or categories for each blog post!
    • Links of date/time stamp and author underneath post title!
    • Three footer/bottom/column bars for widgets!
    • Three more “side” bars for widgets!
      • Widgets shown on multiple post pages.
      • Widgets shown on single post pages.
      • Widgets shown on page pages.
    • Six Theme Options.
      • Logo & Header.
      • Layout Options.
      • Blog.
      • Hero Slider.
      • Featured Content.
      • Footer (which I do NOT use because of the “network” locking down on OUR privacy/id-entities)!!!
    • Basic background to change color. A rose pink won’t look good without the ability change link color!

    Cons:

    • I’ll get bored again.
