These two words “pragmatic” and “stickler” allude me. For a long time since I’ve been learning this English language, I cannot understand words itself and words formed in context of confusing sentences. Writing was difficult and “proper” grammar and spelling proved to be a challenge. That’s why numbers in math during my growing years (and recently in numerology) have been my strength. One cannot disprove that one plus one equal two.
I prefer to be a “pragmatist” as a means to adjust to human standards and to keep the “channels of communications” clear, if you will. I cannot be a “stickler” because my encounters in writing will always be froth with errors. So in a sense, grammar should matter but not if being incoherent is compromised when writing is forced to meet the standards of modern grammar in English.

Since there had been some debate in the other post, I thought I’d dedicate a post to the question of how much standard grammar and usage matter. Do you fall more on the pragmatic side or the stickler side? If you’re more of a pragmatist, how far are you willing to go? For example, would you accept a sentence like “River jumped clothes no into while wearing he Saturday last the”? It pretty clearly conveys information but is far from standard usage. If you’re more of a stickler, are there any of the standard rules you’re willing to relax a bit? If so, what criteria do you use to decide which rules to relax?
