Can anything be funny, or are some things off limits?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us FUNNY.
I noticed that stupid shows like “America’s Funniest Videos” seem like harmless fun, the watching of people making fools off themselves; while we the audience are forced to laugh along with preprogrammed audience laughing from somewhere inside the television.
But what is harmful? The mind-numbing, desensitization of people to feel empathy towards those would-be “victims” of said pranks and other violent vices, meant to elicit laughter and a feeling of euphoria. The end results would be “normalized” and that spectators of these televised participants would not suffer any long-term, detrimental effects from watching such relaxing, yet mind-altering shows.
My point is this: we as a society are FORCED to laugh at/off the sufferings/pains of others. And that is not a healthy deal for any family unit who must be forced to spend “quality time” together in front of “funny shows” that do nothing to teach us basic moral values of compassion and kindness.
So nothing can be so far off the truth than accepting that not all things in life are funny, especially when faced with the potential for injury and death, regardless if the outcome showed no one was harmed in the making of the film!
