Charlie Rose with Barbara Simons
in Current Affairs, Books
on Thursday, October 4, 2012Barbara Simons on her book “Broken Ballots: Will Your Vote Count?”
On a rare occasion during dinner on Saturday, I mysteriously tuned into this station, which I found to be VERY informative.
Here are my chicken notes:
1953. Was watching With Charlie Rose. Originally aired on 10/05/2012.
1952. “[There is no law to prove that a presidential candidate got the most votes.]” “[As a scientist, there has got to be better solution.]”
1951. “[In Maryland and Massachusetts, according to multiple studies, independent security experts in California, “The Red Team”, found problems in the Diebold machines and other electronic voting machines, too.]”
1950. “[There are problems in which the [voting machine] software is NOT properly secured, can loose votes, and the liability is great.]
1949. “[Of course the banks is NOT perfect. So they cover up the loss.]” (I had a thought why the FDIC was in place because of this foreseeable/future problem of banking online.)
1948. “[Virginia will be the Florida of 2012 where there are lots of PAPERLESS voting machines.]”
1946. Barbara Simons, author, has a computer science degree. She doesn’t trust the computers alone and would prefer paper voting system because the accountability/auditing trail is perfected.
1945. “[There is no law requiring us to check paper trails against computer votes.]” “[If people don’t trust the outcome, it’s a terrible situation.]”
Addendum thought: Maw didn’t and still doesn’t trust the online banking. Per my OLD blog entries, I “know” that the voting/electoral/election system is/has been rigged. The boy knows we are screwed voting, so it is NOT a waste NOT to vote. Paw is gullible but happy to vote as long as he “thinks” he wins.
