Maw’s 70th birthday went well. Lunch was baked tri-tip sirloin and steamed salmon from Costco, steamed vegetables (of green beans, butter squash, broccoli and zucchini) from the Commissary store, noodles from Panda’s Express, Lumpia from Goldilocks and guava-flavored, four-layered cake from Aki’s Bakery. Some photos were taken. Three cards were read. And the 2004 Angelica Reserve (16.8% alcohol by volume) was finished. The twosome left around 4:30pm. And we watered the cacti out front, washed and dried the dishes. Maw and Paw cleaned up the oven and stove while I blogged for awhile. Then I did Maw’s nails.

Here is the poem I typed up and taped to the inside front cover of my card to Maw:
You’ve been helpful, caring and kind.
You’ve shared you’re love to those left behind.
Always cooking, cleaning, sewing and neat.
Always smiling, wisely, tender and sweet.
You’ve loved and you’ve cried.
You’ve been honest and not lied.
Doing what is the best
And not taking a rest.
Seventy years later.
I want to say:
Happy Birthday
I love you everyday!
Hello Flynn, nice, and good luck!
