In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “When Childhood Ends | Write about a defining moment in your life when you were forced to grow up in an instant (or a series of instants).”
Good Flynn: Up until the time Das Squirrel moved out, our parents tolerated our laziness. Now, I find myself all alone and the new “head” of this small family as I half-heartedly try to manage the care of two elderly parents. No one else would do leg work as chores piled up.
Evil Kitty: Speaking of chores, you didn’t clean out my privacy chamber! Now you have to clean the matted mess from of my fur. And you’d better me thorough because I expect nothing less than perfect servicing. After all, I’m a prized cat. You need to grow up and take extra responsibility for felines and not only for your humanz. We felines are born with instincts and already know how to look for food and pounce, too.
