In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Home Turf | Name five things in your house that make it a home.”
From the perspective by Good Flynn:
1. Kitchen dining. This is the busiest area in our home. We cook meals and eat it.
2. Telecommunication. We’ve got phones, web, and cable access. We don’t normally watch movies but have interest in mainstream news media and other documentaries. That just kills time. No one really calls our landline but that’s for emergency and quick hellos. The internet supplements our activities, mostly informational and updates, and rarely social.
3. Modern amenities. We’d die without our conditioner and electric fans, without hot running water, and without electricity (refer to item number two).
4. Girly stuff. That includes home decor of fake flowers, laced pillows, collapsible tables, picture frames, heavy wooden furniture with frilly coverlets, home-made blankets, and lemon-scented pellets for the vacuum cleaner. Hmm.
5. Manly stuff. Garden tools and other such thingies.
From the perspective by Evil Kitty:
1. Humanz. A home is empty without humanz. We have parakeets, which we can’t eat because they are considered as family members by humanz. Parakeets have qualities like humanz. Humanz are required to clean and feed felines. Parakeets may preen our fur but we would eat them, if given half the chance.
2. Food. Felines need food. In order to keep up our energy for running around during play, we need soft, most meat, for ease of digesting and swallowing. We don’t like much starch or veggies in our diet, except for novelty and taste; although catnip is a treat.
3. Toys. Felines need toys. We get bored easily at home. And when left alone for hours on end, we need something to keep our minds sharp through these mostly plastic play things. We especially love the catnip mouse. That’s our favorite toy.
4. Privacy chamber. Felines need a sense of privacy while doing the business of nature. A cardboard box and some dirt will do fine. Sometimes we get constipated and that’s where humanz can give us more water. But we don’t like baths. That’s a “negative” in meow.
5. Memorabilia. We have lots of depiction of cats: signed photos, background images, birthday cards, modern and schizoid resin displays, throw pillows, yarn-knitted blankets, the dimensional magnets, personally etched mugs and cups, tree ornaments, life-sized stuff toys, etc. We’re spoilt.
