I arrived work late at 0715, thinking I’d be there at 0700, so I could leave early in time for my parent’s anniversary dinner at home.
Lo and behold, Ty the tall black guy intercepts me. You see, I have to cross his desk prior to mine, which is towards the back of the wall.
Yesterday, he asked me what I was doing that evening. I was crossing his desk to exit and said, Going home! He was staying in a motel for two evenings because his Mom’s house is being fumigated.
So this morning, he asked me what kinds of movie I watch. I said no romance because I’ll cry or anything violent. I mentioned adventure shows with superheros, since he can draw comics. He asked if I’d like to watch a movie next month. I said sure so we could shake things up.
Now mind y’all, I’m NOT attracted to him because he’ll be a distraction at work. He won’t stop looking my way. I’m not that desperate. I told him that my temp job is only up to May when Jackie comes back. He said why don’t I ask Jackie if there is a job opening.
To Philip, damn it. If I had to choose dating between you and Ty, I’d choose you because you know about math. Besides that, I love your wheels and your loudness. Plus, I do listen to your type of music.
But since you’re dating your girlfriend, so that’s an icky factor. I’m looking for someone who is open and available, and could manage my two properties – one in the Philippines and here in Silicon Valley.
Now y’all know and should know why at this point on my life, I’m picky. I can’t just jump the boat and risk these temporal goodies. It’s all good while I’m stuck in this humanized female body.
Maybe when and if Phil does ever has another informal meeting with me, I’ll have to let him know. Because when I first encountered Ty at his desk, he thought I was married or something.
Last night, I did pray for an answer to my dilemma, but I didn’t expect it to be Ty. Oh, well. Again, I’ll joke to Phil that maybe I’ll choose the path as a nun instead of being an AR supervisor. Haha!
