Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day and my current set of responsibilites were completed within 15 minutes, my brain got bored. Instead of idling, it whistled the tune to the “Irish Spring” commericial televised long ago. Then it started whistling the tune to “The Kerry Dance:”
“The Kerry Dance” was written by James L. Molloy in 1879, but this first verse musically might have been written in 1790 and attributed to Margaret Casson of London. The dance is known since at least 1549. It was originally called the Rinnce Fada prononciation = “reenka faudha “.
That’s right! You FOREINGERS should know these fun songs! I happen to play it on the piano. My mind heard it in full ochestration too, along with a flute or pipe. I still don’t know the lyrics to “Danny Boy”. Hahaha!
