After Sunday mass, Maw specifically asked the girl to buy a container of spinach dip at Costco. What does the girl do? She told her husband to go pick up a container and delivery the request to his OLD family himself! If she were a good daughter-in-law, that request could have been processed by HER (good heart, if any) the following day on Monday.
I had to leave a message on her cellphone on Tuesday and told her to forget about it. Apparently, the boy continues to claim forgetting to purchase one for whatever reasons, such as being too busy and burned out at work. His work place is behind the Costco store; so I find this as no excuse to me.
Symbolically, this means he doesn’t care about his OLD family. And he is intentionally refusing to go out of his way make amends for the errors of his ways. It’s a known condition on his paternal side – vindictive when caught and stubborn through teeth and nails.
I see this also as a way of the girl to let us know that `get it yourself`, too. The point is the ungrateful twosome should just return the EXPENSIVE money gifts and call it even; so there is no power trip over who owes anyone. If the monetary ills are the MAIN reason for their attitudes, I don’t what else to interpret other than they are both fooling each other.
