After another fruitless day of waiting for nothing, I’ve kept busy by modifying, adding and deleting my pages (via Dashboard > Manage > Pages) down to twenty-nine in total, with twenty-five published and four set to private mode.
The ‘Back matter’ is the only section to my ‘web-book’ that I need to ‘fill-out’. The rest are finished to my taste. I’m not much of a writer but the obsession to blogging has ruled my life for the meantime.
I used to save the ‘visual’ tag to each page; but I found that saving the ‘HTML’ code to my word document is much better. The word document itself doesn’t look pretty but at least I would be able to retrieve (copy and paste) the codes back into WordPress.com in case I need to make more modifications later on.
The ‘best’ way to view my ‘web-book’ is by starting out at the ‘Home’ page featuring an illustration of Dante’s Paradisio. By clicking on that image, the next page shows the ‘Stats’ [addendum ‘Pages’ section was added 08/28/2008 in place of ‘Stats’ page] based my ‘web-book’ on the layout for the table of contents via ‘The Chicago Manual of Style’ online. The order of the pages is logically laid out as a result.
To make ‘turning the pages’ easier for the readers, I’ve relocated the three custom characters (a left pointing guillemet, a black suit heart and a right pointing guillemet) from above my ‘copyright’ information at the bottom of each page toward the upper left hand corner, just below the ‘Title’ (set to ‘h1’ style) to each of my ‘Write Page’ entries.
The three custom characters are set to ‘h3’ style. I’ve added the words ‘Prev’ for the left pointing guillemet and ‘Next’ to the right pointing guillemet. The black suit heart has been assigned ‘Table of Contents’. I’m through messing around with pages. The ‘Front matter’ section was the monster as I tested each link to make sure they are functional. My ‘web-book’ is nice for now and me. Will y’all have a go at it? Toodles!
