If it were not for the header image by “Jr” for the Theme: Pilcrow by Automattic, I would have switched WordPress.com theme again. So to make sure I do not offend the artistic support, I will keep this theme until I get REALLY bored. So far it’s okay for now, except like “Jr” mentioned the “Tagline” is at the bottom; while my time/date stamp is in a location above the post title instead of below that element.

I’m currently using the Pilcrow theme by team Automattic and the color scheme is brown, which is darker than the white color (with black fonts) but lighter than the black color (with white fonts).
By checking:
“Show falling snow on my blog. (Only until January 4th.)”
One could appreciate this animated feature much better against the brown color scheme. The white color scheme just blends away the falling snow.

This time I’ve switched back to theme Pilcrow by Automattic and set the “Default Layout” to “Full-Width, No Sidebar”. So temporarily I’ve got a nice “static page” of an image showing Satan falling down. This single “religious” painting was an “Image widget” found in the sidebar. To place this image as my “front/home page” was an inspiration from two weblog sites showing “St. John the Baptist” and “God surrounded by Angels”. The appearance my weblog site has taken a more website approach.
I’ve added more drop-down “customized menus” of three poems and a “Welcome back!” link. And the “About” menu has two children: one about the blog site and one about moi! Both children have their own kids – FAQ, like “The Facts of Life” a televised American sitcom.
The only way to view the index pages of “Recent posts” is either the “Archives” page by month and its hierarchical “categories” or the “Blog” page of latest blog entries. “Subscribing to Blog” is better, though, because its excerpts give the readers a chance to “continue reading” or not.

Believe it or not, I’m still using the recently added WordPress.com theme: Pilcrow, which rhymes with “PressRow”. Under the “Theme Options”, I’ve selected a default color scheme of “Light”, which is a basic white background with black fonts and blue links. For the default layout, I chose “Full-Width, No Sidebar”. That means there are no distracting widgets.
To further “force” this WordPress.com weblog into submission as a website, I’ve set a static page of “Howdy!” as my “Front page” and nothing (or — Select — ) as my “Posts page”, meaning I’ve reduced the chance of online search engines from picking up my latest/recent posts entries. Only the smart ones would dare subscribe to my syndicated RSS feeds, which is shown as excerpts (or summary) instead of full text because I’m a cruel person.
Again, I prefer people clicking around my site and ACTUALLY reading the pages rather than just reading the posts. To simplify the top navigation bar, I’ve only customize three links: Home, Pages and Posts! It shouldn’t be hard to differentiate static pages from most recent posts. How cool is that?
After reading an EY article about his website not taking on a more “professional” look since 1996, I was inspired to remove my sidebar widgets of clutter. Actually, I just got bored looking at all those sidebar “Image widget”, which slows down the pages from loading up faster for those with slower internet connections.

For those still using “PressRow”, there is a new WordPress.com theme that rhymes with:
Pilcrow by Automattic
Pilcrow’s 6 different layouts, with multiple sidebar configurations, four default color schemes, custom header images, and a customizable background, make personalizing your blog a snap.
That’s right, use Pilcrow by Automattic now! It’s more versatile than “PressRow” but VERY similar is style and flavor. Try it! You’ll like it! Or else, I’ll be the only one happy with my new WordPress.com theme.
The “Links” template is more readable. The “Archives” template is the same layout. There’s even “Custom Menus”! The “Theme Options”, “Headers” and “Backgrounds” are added features, too.

Okay. I think I figured out what is wrong with the new WordPress theme: Pilcrow by Automattic. The footer/bottom bar sucks! By using either the “Light” or “Dark” color scheme, certain widgets are not visible. By using either the “Brown” or “Red” color scheme, one could see the widgets down below. I wonder if team Automattic ever test run their themes before putting out their hard work to good use by webloggers like moi! I’ve resolved the issue by not putting anything in the two footer/bottom bar and ended up stuffing up the two sidebars full of widgets. The problem has nothing to do with the older IE7 web browser version.

For whatever reason, when one chooses the “Light” color scheme to Pilcrow theme by Automattic, the older internet browser – IE7 – makes the “Blog Stats” widget, “Custom Menu” widget and “Text Widget” unreadable via the footer/bottom bar. The captions of the images and the links do not show up. As a result, I had to “Select a default color scheme” to Brown. It’s darker but at least the fonts are not too white against the black background. The color of the links are, well, brown, which really looks like dark orange. The color of the drop-down and hover-over features are dark greenish in color. While I prefer the light color of white and blue links, the brown color scheme will have to meet my lowered expectations! And the bottom-most information to both the tagline and WordPress credit does NOT appear via IE7. Why doesn’t this employer upgrade to IE8 for crying out loud?

This time I’m trying the latest WordPress.com theme: Pilcrow by Automattic – Pilcrow’s 5 different layouts, with multiple sidebar configurations, four default color schemes, custom header images, and a customizable background, make personalizing your blog a snap.
It’s a home-run! The ball’s out of the field! I love you team Automattic! Of course, I’m being facetious! Why do I like this newest theme?
PROs
- Time-date stamp for single view of each blog entry.
- Templates for “Archives” and “Links”. Bigger bragging rights for blog-rollers!
- Custom menus.
- Backgrounds.
- Headers. I choose the yellow-tile pattern.
- Feature widget, like the Coraline theme.
- Five-layouts. I choose the feature-widget on the right.
- Two footer/bottom bar wide enough for longer text! Whoo! Hooo!
CONs
- I’ll get bored again, of course. It’s my mutable sign – always changing.

Other notables are:
- Blockquotes – normal font and set against light gray background.
- Caption for images spaced nicely and easy to read. But squooshed slightly to the left!
- Horizontal bar viewable.
- Links in blue color.
- Header size in darker color.
- Readable fonts.
- Sidebar element wide enough to accommodate “image widgets”.
- Footer bar, dark and unique. Captions for “image widgets” not readable.
- “Jump to comments” feature.
- Automatic width to smaller screen size! (So, I could “hide” my weblog while at work! Ssshhh!)
