Extremely hot weather is worse than extremely cold weather because the elderly, plants and animals can die mercilessly. Whereas the cold will make them shiver, fall asleep and die.
I grew up in snow climate but got sick. I now live in Mediterranean climate and that's fine by me. I'm used to cold weather than hot. I don't like sweating!
