Temp job from hell again

Today, I started my two-month temp job inside a “warehouse” full of “winos and spirits” up north, just past the now bankrupt Solyndra. It is a “LOW LEVEL” data entry job of “making copies”, scanning copies, archiving copies and keying/matching data while listening to classic country and easy listening music from the CEILING ALL day. Had it not been for my hearing aid the noise would have annoyed me. I had to swing-out the battery cases to disengage the hearing aids, which doubled as hearing plugs.

No one really bothers me, except the usual location of sitting near the FIRE EXIT door of slamming noise to my left and seeing a BIG clock to my right. This time I’m the one who has to “bother” the boss who is relieving her boss who won’t be back until next week. Three other “white” girls took off, leaving Claudia to dump a pile of work to keep me busy. Great. Their desks are nasty, filthy and dirty! Yuch! WTF? Have they no shame for the clutter among their family photos?

I got lost looking for the building with LOTS of glass. The parking is mostly reserved and I did NOT want to park in the streets. Luckily, I saw someone parked at an empty building next door to the left and leaving towards my location with her lunch bags and all to the right. So I parked and hauled my load only to be redirected by the middle-aged lady to the OTHER building and up the ramp to the right.

At 0835AM, I intercepted someone from H/R who let me in and Susan know that I was here. I got my badge from two human resources personnel and Susan and another one walked me back to a side door and into the “accounting department” where I was supposed to park my ass. I was disappointed NOT to find a place to LOCK my property. I dumped my belongings on the desk and got a brief tour of the toilet and lunch room. F-ck.

The nice Chinese woman helped me tremendously. I liked the simple/mindless task. But there was more MATCHING of data involved. This helped to slow down my impulsive/rushed/deadline mentally mode. Plus, I was able to get up and sit down to copy and scan frequently because my butt, lower extremities and back would ache from prolonged sitting behind the damn computer.

The outdoor is NICE because there are LOTS of trees. I forgot my walking hat but brought my BLACK/funeral-colored umbrella as a sun-shield. With my white/rubber New Balance sneakers, I managed to walk, say, only 15 minutes! My two breaks didn’t allow me enough time to snack on my banana halves, go back and get my rubber shoes and walk/enjoy the outdoors. My lunch took 20 minutes to chew/swallow because Maw’s portions were too MUCH and too dry.

Overall, I’ll get sick and tired of looking at these reports and schedules and count my blessings that this is only a temp job, which is ideal because I really don’t like people. I like doing short-term projects. I love it. The people are friendly enough. Fine. But most are old and ill-humored. They are NOT educated either, only the one that helped me seemed really professional.

Trust me folks. You can tell a goof from a worker. You can tell from their clothes and mannerism. Oh, god! Some wear low-cut blouses, high-clog sandals, tight double-knit pants, winged blouses and high hair-bears or even weaves. Yuch. I am done with the place already. Good riddance. The place is unionized, too. So you know what sort of clients my head-hunters “prefer”. Yuch.

Oh, yeah. After taxes, deductions and traveling one-hour and 15 minutes both ways, my hourly pay would be $8, which is minimum wage. How’s that for someone who used to earn $22 bucks per hour with FULL-benefits and other amenities, such was food and souvenirs, too? Huh? You fat bastards!
