20241215-1924. Welp, I’ve messed up big time. I tried two bricks and had to return the NEW brick because my OLD brick has 2TB storage and OLD stuff still works. I tried the 3-2-1 stuff and failed miserably trying to sync my stuff online. I had to delete everything online and put back everything on the HD.
Anyways, my Xmas outdoor lighting project went VERY well with the help of my elderly father.
For the past month since I tried-out my NEW brick, I bought one data cable which worked to hook up the OLD and NEW bricks together*, one 100-foot Ethernet cable, one 50-foot Ethernet cable, which I’ll return; since my Ethernet wall outlet adapter works fine with my OLD 15-foot Ethernet cable and 100 cable clips with nails to finish up securing my dangling Ethernet cable to* the walls.
Last Monday 12/9, I got my Indoor Power Adapter for a device. But it was NOT what I expected! One end had two prongs and both were meant to be* attached to the back of a device and NOT as an adapter to its charging cord!
So last Thursday 12/12, I picked up the 20-foot white extension cord with the flat 360-degree plug AND the 14-foot green-colored string of LED warm yellowish-colored outdoor Christmas lights to help “support” the flimsy white-colored “indoor” 15-foot long power adapter cord!
I tried to install my two wires by myself but the FREEZING, BITING winds hampered me until the following day. The rain started to show itself while I tried to hose down the spider webs from our ladder.
So on Friday the 13th, and with the help of my dad, who carried our very OLD and light-weight aluminum 6-foot ladder from the backyard, through the inside of the house and out the front yard, we managed to install both wires – green and white AND the white extension cord.
Thankfully on 12/12, I managed to order 20 LARGER cable clip with adhesive because dad’s OLD stapler for his OLD Xmas lights (which we donated) – were too short to “bite” into the wooden rafters and barely “wide” enough to clear the sides of the extension cord. I punched two holes into my new white extension cord!
After we installed the two wires (green and white) AND the white extension cord, my dad said he wanted the lights to be turned off during the day and turned on during the night. So I ordered a remote controlled, light sensor, waterproof timer!
Since I’m a control freak I get to turn on and off the lights, set it to automatic light and night or any of the 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours mode! So for now the automatic mode works!
So today we installed the light sensor timer and it worked: the lights turned-on automatically on/about 1700 PST, which was probably sunset!
My prayers to HIM and my big brainstorming and my elderly father helped to fulfill my happiness factor! Now that the battery-powered device is now live 24/7, I could use the motion sensor to capture any anomalous pauses along our northwestern-facing area of maintenance.
