20221014-2304. Welp, my self-hosted WordPress Simple Instance platform has been picking up these long posts numbers from my wpcomstaging site due to numerous connection and disconnections between these two platforms.
The wpcomstaging site was supposed to be my ONE and ONLY main/primary blogging site due to the PRO plan upgrade that’s good for one year.
But due to my forgetfulness in backing up and/or importing from my self-hosted site and then exporting into my backup wpcomstaging site, I decided enough is enough! I stopped Connecting my domain that is registered with an external host and will keep the wpcomstaging site separated in its own WordPress.com account.
So yeah, I just sent a delayed email reply to the support team over at Automattic but got REALLY pissed off that this stuff is plaguing my blogging experience.
No matter! I was being selfish and should have replied my findings. But I did NOT know that I could “edit” out (but did NOT try to change) the long post and over-ride it to a shorter post_id number or whatever. And that was just from today!
So I told the team that, hey, both platforms are picking up these long post numbers. Usually the system automatically generates a shorter numbers starting from post=1 for whatever, post=2 for the Home “page” which is still considered a “post” which is also a static page (get it?), and post=3 for the Hello World “post”.
Yeah, so that’s my findings for now. Good luck, chumps! If y’all can FIX IT – NOW, then I’d be a happy camping blogger. Yup.
Okay, I just took two screenshots showing these long post numbers. I might take a third to show that I cannot change or over-ride these long post numbers. But that’s interesting, because the numbers are increasing normally.
Now if I can tweak it to match my Customized URL structure via the Permalink Settings section, then that would be interesting to find out.
Here is my current Permalink Settings sample: /%postname%-%year%%monthnum%%day%%hour%%minute%%second%
Nice, huh? 20221014-2321. Here goes! I’m gonna Publish and find out what the Permalink looks like afterwards.
Just saying. FlynnsPaws.
Hello Flynn, nice, and good luck!
