Information packets will be distributed in the fogging area beginning on Wednesday, August 21, notifying residents about the fogging operation. As an added convenience, on Thursday and Friday staff from the SCCVCD will be available during extended hours from 7:30 am to 7 pm at (408) 918-3452 or (800) 314-2427 to answer questions and provide information.

WEST NILE VIRUS INFECTED MOSQUITOES FOUND!
FOGGING FOR ADULT MOSQUITOES TO OCCUR IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Although the Santa Clara County Vector Control District (District) has maximized its efforts to reduce mosquito populations by treating aquatic habitats, mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus (WNV) have been found in your neighborhood. The District and the Public Health Department agree that the potential for human WNV cases now exists in this area and deem it in the best interests of public health and safety to begin ground fogging operations to suppress adult mosquitoes which may be carrying WNV. Fogging consists of using a truck-mounted sprayer to apply a very dilute amount of a pyrethrin-based product for a limited time, usually one evening.
WEATHER PERMITTING, the Santa Clara County Vector Control District will fog your neighborhood beginning at 11:00 PM on Friday 8/23/2013. A map of the proposed fogging area, as well as a list of Frequently Asked Questions can be found at sccVector.org. Generally, residents do not need to take any special precautions before or after the fogging.
A limited number of County staff will be available to answer questions and provide information during extended hours from 7:30am to 7:00pm on Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23. Call (408) 918-452 or (800) 314-2427 to speak with staff or leave a message. The District continues to monitor known mosquito sources and respond to reports regarding mosquito activity in un-maintained swimming pools, ponds, creeks, and catch basins in your area. Please remember to remove standing water in your yard and uses insect repellent when outdoors between dusk and dawn.
