Create a short story, piece of memoir, or epic poem that is 26 sentences long, in which the first sentence begins with “A” and each sentence thereafter begins with the next letter of the alphabet.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us ORDERLY.
Here is a haiku poem:
Ah, another day
Bringing forth another night
Can’t fathom my life
Dreamless without you.
Echoing ear beats so strong
Fiercely holding and
Gathering your dust
Heavenward I toss your love
Inwardly so sad.
Jumping happily
Kites flying to bring you back
Memories alive
Nothing empty but
Open to your shape-shifting
Pretending to care
Quietly I pray
Ruins go away from me
Silence once again
Tears no longer flow
Ultimate release from here
Vainglory to thee
Wait for me, my love
Xeon lights flashing neons
Yodels of mountings
Zephyrs winds blowing…
Here is a story:
Alas, the lass was a sass. Begotten from ill-willed parents, she had to fend for herself. Casualty of wars did nothing to change her predetermined path, like so many of us destined to grave, but when we know not. Dangerously she threaded uncharted waters, alone in a dingy boat made out of reed, she set out toward the setting sun. Earnestly, she pushed away the notion that no one would know where she went or how she would ever get there – a place other than the stagnation of a country already overfilled from yesterday’s crop share. For she in her greatest aptitude has shown endearing strength to overcome the voices from her past. Haunted by an abusive relationship, she clasped her ears and drowned out the noise with sheer will power.
Ironically, it was already day-break. Just in time for a quick meal, she hurries along to finish a bowl of oats cereal sweetened with honey. Kindness from the vibrating smartphone awoke her from a dreamless state after reading the headlines: Dow Jones Down Again! Moments ago, she was up to her neck with clients calling for answers as to what happened to their funds. Now caught up with the realization that nowhere to go was next to a dead man’s body. Of course, she could have settled to a simple life as a nun and lead a choir of blessed sisters raising their own food and feeding the needy.
Poor people! Quickly, she grabbed her belongs and headed out of that luxurious apartment and into the bustle of other business of the day. Rest is something she wished she had. Surely, this day would be no ordinary day. Traffic was always the bane of any city dweller – the constant lunging motion of a taxi driver’s forceful stops-and-goes did nothing to alleviate the tense neck muscles from stress of overseeing a staff of ten. Until she finds her self seated in that black arm chair of the company, she won’t stop! Verily, she wills herself to work that much harder after ten years of dedication. “X” – next to where she signed her name and life over to Forbes top ten company to work for and at the same time, sold her soul to the devil. Yesterday seemed but a distant memory. Zoos were her favorite past times before she decided her fate.
