“Anyone with close inter-species relationships knows experientially that non-humans are as aware as humans. Nevertheless, the power of this declaration from mainstream science is at least two-fold — (1) it encourages a deeper level of respect for animals, and (2) demonstrates a growing alignment between science and spirituality.“
Earlier today, I saw photos on Buzzfeed.com about animals taking care of other animals and cute lambs. I wonder who/what told mere humans to ignore the fact that animals lacking consciousness.
“An international group of prominent scientists has signed The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness in which they are proclaiming their support for the idea that animals are conscious and aware to the degree that humans are — a list of animals that includes all mammals, birds, and even the octopus. But will this make us stop treating these animals in totally inhumane ways?”
The power to discern sentient beings in all life comes from within. Personally, I’ve tried really hard NOT to harm the insects/spiders and let them the go by NOT vacuuming them. Alas, my hands are too big and my eyesight is too weak. I see that they too fear us giants and run away from us killers. It’s no wonder this hellish planet will go down into perdition.
