While walking around the large expanse of empty lots meant for at least three to five buildings, I noticed that there were no movement, save the winds blowing the trees, tall grasses and my inverted umbrella twice.
I did come across a dragonfly. It buzzed briefly at eye level after I rounded the corner and it went into the dryness of tall and short grasses and dried, rocky soil to my right. This encounter was a little bit before the buzzing noise of the electrical grid to my left.
That was the only insect flying around. (Some smaller ovoid ones were warming themselves somewhere on the sidewalk.) I saw some small birds flying above the area. Earlier before the corner and right above the same area, I saw a large black hawk-like bird.
As mentioned earlier in my blog, the area felt like it was inundated with water. One could tell by the smooth and rolling appearing of the hills nearby (which is part of Mt. Hamilton). It had the run-offs of water and resulting erosion of soil now long gone. Even Guadalupe River barely flows freely. The way the winds blew strongly gave my mind the imagery that I was once walking upon water or at least marshes from eons ago.
But I did notice how the small little shrubs of green and tall dandelions grew in one day’s time when I first visited the areas yesterday. The dandelions are not weeds because dandelions sprout flowers! It has yellows and some small puff balls of white seeds. Marijuana is weed because it doesn’t have flowers, right?
Anyway, I was praying and blessing the land and the grounds underneath as I walked along the sidewalk because I didn’t want ticks sucking at me brushing against tall bushes or contract Lyme’s disease. It was a fine but VERY slow walk after all.
