To ObamaCare and pals,
Y’all suck! For two hours, I’ve failed to set-up a follow-up appointment!
I called 1-888-334-1000 at 0820 0821 0853 0904 0913 in the morning. I was following the “Instructions from your Hospital Care Team”. With the last call, I learned that they set-up appointments within forty-eight hours of the expected visit.
After pressing many prompts, I called Member Services at 800-260-2055. The representative said she only set-up appointments for this plan and not from the contact information listed on my discharge papers from the emergency room yesterday.
At 0944 0942 (with 1425 yesterday), I then called my PCP Phone 408-272-6300 on the front of my “card” as an alternative to seeking an appointment. None was available to answer. I had to leave a voicemail message, which cannot be returned promptly due to unexpectedly high call volumes!
So if y’all can just rebuke this failed system, I wanna seek better service, regardless if it’s free or not. If I called my previous PCP and paid outta pocket cash, I’d have my call answered promptly and appointment confirmed quickly.
But since ObamaCare didn’t allow for me to keep my previous primary care physician, I was forced to use the services as assigned by the Department of Health Services via the County of Santa Clara.
As a result, I want y’all to fix this system because I could be bleeding to death internally and there is no way I’d be checked up. No one looked into my eyes, ear, or nose to see if there’s anything bleeding.
Yesterday, because of the construction and blockage of the main entrance to the emergency room, there was no transport service for wheelchairs. So for those bold souls who drove self to patient drop-off parking areas, it’s impossible to pass through the emergency doors without walking through construction sites!
And while checking in and waiting in the emergency room, no wheelchairs was provided! I had landed on both wrists and was in pain while using Mom’s old crutches with difficulty!
Further, the radiologist didn’t lift up the foot rests and I plopped down incorrectly on the wheelchair. And while being called into the emergency bed, letter A printed on regular white paper and attached to the wall with clear tape, there was no wheelchair to the bed or from the bed!
The transporter, Yoshi who goes to school and works here, arrived promptly, though Dina G the physician assistant (PA) and Dorothy D the licenced vocational nurse (LVN) didn’t know the arrival time of the transport.
So that’s my experience with the medical service provided by Santa Clara VMC. It’s fair but I don’t like it due to lack of refinement and other high expectations.
Since I haven’t used ObamaCare ever before, I cannot give this a letter grade. But it passes for minimal service but fails to exceed in excellence due to free services as expected versus paying in cold hard cash.
