Hi, boys and girls! Here is an old word dated July 10, 2010:
A confidence trick is the use of confidence by someone when answering a question, and because of the confidence they evoke in the other person the answer is determined to be true. A good confidence trick can make anyone believe (nearly) anything because of the confidence the other person exudes whether it is true or false. The use of a confidence trick is used most by highly intelligent people because you need to be witty and the fact that you are playing off of what the person knows, and can know.

Q: So how is your new friend online? He seems to be very engaged in your weblog.
A: Oh, him! If it were not for his cute baby pic, I would not have replied to his daily comments. It’s not like he is a “fugly” troll or anything like that!
Q: So, what happened to your new friend online? Why didn’t he show up as planned?
A: Ah, err! He said he was being held hostage by a bunch of people in Nigeria and needed money to bail him out. If it were not for his cute gootie pic, I would not have replied to his chatting messages. It’s not like his is a Masonic spook or anything like that!
