I’ve used the gallery feature in two of my blog entries. For my purposes, I feel the thumbnails are better as images linked to a blog entry instead of a separate attachment page The random order of images is useful for photos that have no particular order. I don’t know what the ascending or descending order does. The gallery column used so far are two for the largest look and three for a smaller one.

Gallery Settings

Link thumbnails to: Image | Attachment page

Order image by: Menu order | Title | Date/Time | Random

Order: Ascending | Descending

Gallery columns: 2 to 9
