‘I no longer love my Son’. (Any broken-hearted mother)

Lola Valing had gone through a lot to keep her family of eight children together, roughing up her hands to catch fish after canoeing (and sleeping therein several time) out in Laguna Bay, denting her shoulders loaded with buckets of fish to sell at the local market and putting up with the ingratitude of her very disrespectful daughter-in-law and equally bull-headed son.

The story goes that ‘Hell-Fire’ was the one going after ‘Flower’, a navy man. She came from nothing and wouldn’t stop pestering the young lad, who was living in his mother’s house so long ago. But his mother (and definitely the whole town) knew that the match between the couple was not good. She was more aggressive and fed him whatever he wanted, ultimately capturing the poor boy’s heart and burning his soul.

He ended up being her slave for life, always agreeing to her every whim and never defending his family or children from the abuser. Despite the dismay of the whole town and the family, their marriage together was purely for themselves, always taking vacations and making up stories that would only embarrass themselves to those who already knew the story behind their romance in the first place.

I have nothing to do with them. (Chil)

This is reality. And any couple would know that making children is cute at first. But eventually their children must grow up with their own set of attitudes and behavior and move on with their lives, with a significant other that may or may not agree entirely with the original family unit. Bottom-line: Once the couple got married, the family knows that they have nothing to do with them.

For whatever reason, children would blame the parents, siblings, relatives and friends for not understanding their blind love. It sickens me sometimes that other STRANGERS know what is going on, yet they continue to go along with the charade as if nothing bad will ever, ever happen, to think fighting is normal, which is not from the beginning and a definite ‘no-no’ when done in front of the elders and funnily prior to dating!

But something will happen as karma will dictate:

What has been done and said with the parents will be passed on to their children.

This has happened to ‘Hell-Fire’ and ‘Flower’, whose own four children left the old man to die alone without seeing his beloved sister on his death bed and all because the daughter-in-law would have called the police on the grounds of causing distress to him and his family. The old lady died a couple of years later due to cancer without any relatives nearby. It’s a sad ending because the children fought over what little property the parents had after they passed on.

One should realize that this example has already been set for a recent newly wed. I have seen with my own eyes – a star witness (again) on how history will repeat itself. The elders were disregarded many times over and the twosome went along with their own lives, not realizing they too will experience a dose of their own misdeeds to the elders. Like the four children in the above example, their own children would be brain-washed to take the side of the parents and ignore the poor relatives who know the truth.

She has disrespected the in-laws. And in turn, the in-laws pointed out many ‘opinions’ that should have ‘opened their eyes‘ on the truth and eventually learned to ignored them, hopeless cases beyond repair. The ultimatum was already given prior to the marriage:

YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN! (Old man)

It’s not always easy to move on to someone better when a marriage fails. But when there are no children involved, it’s harder. Once these little clones of selfishness are birthed, it is supposed to be a great joy regardless of what has been done and said in the past.

But it is truly a sickening joy when the elders cannot and will not be part of their lives! I’ve seen and heard many times over how one side of the family will take care of raising the children; while leaving the in-laws (who appear less impressive) behind to nothing.

So there you have my predictions for any marriage as exemplified by one of many horror stories as told by others.  Those infantile ones who claim they are immune to the dramas in life and on this planet are nuts. Yes, there is love to cherish and obey each other.

The rules, however, have been set forth:

Do not do unto others or your youngling’ will do unto you.
