So what has happened today besides waking up early around 06:00AM, eating pandisal for breakfast, delivering four tables and two folding chairs, picking up old granny from the nursing home and food from Valerio and buying cooking ingredients for Maw’s pansit lug-lug, embotido and kare-kare.
I’ve actually met two more business-minded persons who work in the real estate industry. I may have one contact for Hawaii and another for Southern California. I may try investing in rental properties but that seems out of my league for now. Both happen to be Chinese and are quite personable as the profession dictates them to behave (or perform, rather).
We took family pictures with old granny in the middle. We sang the birthday song as Brat, who blew out the ‘Bic’ lighter as his birthday candle. I took brief movies of their mock engagement – he knelt on his right knee with the flower vase meant for the dining table in one hand and again offered with her petting his head as an acceptance.
After that event, Cunning and I (with Maw’s suggestion) decided to take a walk to my home. We talked about relationships for about one-quarter of a mile to walk off the food. Paw called me back thirty minutes later and with good timing because of my allergic attack from walking outdoors. I had to drive us back in my Gray mustang car instead.
We sat from noontime to five o’clock before leaving to drop off old granny back in the nursing home. I drove home ahead and my parents came up into garage. After a nice day at a small party with some nice new set of in-laws that tend to speak their language too much, the travel back was a comforting one.
The part that was not comforting is discovering earlier this morning around 09:15AM that old granny is not allowed to leave the premises without the permission from one of four designated pie-holes listed on the chart — in the following order: ‘Mal-Low’, ‘Mal-Death’, ‘Orge-Liar’, and ‘Dead.’ Not one of them responded to the numerous attempts for fifteen minutes made by one of the nurses, Mercy N.
‘Ogre’ and ‘Hammie’ are in-laws, by the way. Yet, the release was made after an approval was given by this ‘Hammie,’ who was reached under ‘Mal-Low’s phone number. Further, I pointed out the similar signatures made ‘Shiva-Paw’ today and on 14-May-2006 of last year. Paw is clearly the son and with every right and authority to release his own mother to her freedom.
I made one dead cellular call to my cousin ‘Mal-Iyam,’ the daughter of ‘Dead’ as proof. And the successful one was to Maw, who complained to that nurse about emergency issues by not answering these types of calls to the contacts listed old granny’s chart. The nurse said, ‘[I’m] sorry for the inconvenience.’ There is no sorry when this injury to insult for the lack of recognition by his siblings is unforgivable.
This unfortunate issue will not go unnoticed as discussed at our dinner at a Chinese restaurant afterward. The written authority to dump old granny into the nursing home needs to investigate as do the other older folks who do not have dementia, at all! This is unfair and sad to these people who may already have pensions and/or Social Security benefits.
Perhaps there is always money involved in this case. And this too has happened to countless other helpless geriatrics who should not be imprisoned before their time. A cross checking mechanism needs to be implemented and/or legislated to make sure the executors or guardians involved are serving their parties best interests.
Today is truly meant to be another day of Memorial to those who needs to be remembered, not for what they once were a person in mind and body but for who they are in sprit. As old granny stated today in Tagalog (one of many Filipino dialects), ‘Maa-roo-noong ang Dios’ is translated as ‘God knows.’ Yes, Granny: God hears you and knows those pie-holes won’t get her dime either.
This day also marks another awakening — a burden lifted from the shoulders of those who should not grieve for the elders locked down for life with nasty food that is not at all appetizing but the rejoicing in the birth of a new relationship of love with the couple and their immediate family to continue the cycle towards the same blessed end – a memorial.
