20060423-Cleaning Chaos

I was awakened twice by Paw knocking on my bedroom door. I couldn’t wake up because of going to bed early last night; waking up early this morning; composing a three hour blog; and sleeping another four hours to make up for lost hours of beauty rest.

Brat called us from his new home around 10:00AM. He needed help in cleaning the house. I loaded up the trunk of the Mazda with Maws wooden basket of orange drinks, bottled waters and bear claw pastries; one vacuum cleaner; two sweeping brooms; two dust holders; one mop and one floor sweeper, which was the same one they bought today but never used.

We arrived with the usual lack of manners from her, which is typical of her kind because I’ve encountered many before her. I had expected her to come out and greet my bio-units and me and to help us unload our cleaning tools. I do not understand why two people need to change the front door handles and locks and why continued to smile from the front door.

I ‘manned’ the vacuum cleaner downstairs while the mostly wooden floor of maple was swept by Maw and mopped by Paw for about one hour. Another hour or so was spent by me vacuuming the upstairs carpet of light beige and newly installed marble flooring. We did not bother doing the bathrooms.

The cleaning of the two-car garage was done for another hour or so. Paw swept the walls and garage door free of spider webs while I swept up the saw dust and debris below. Maw held the plastic bag open so I could throw away the two piles of dirt.

Twit and I attempted to pull out the garden lanterns from the front lawn because Brat didn’t like these in his lawn. We stopped pulling the black wires at the backyard because of potential electrical hazards. She had the wrong pliers to try to cut the wires free from the soil and Brat got mad at her again for not knowing better.

They will hire an electrician to remove those wires and another cream colored wire sticking out from the backyard. There seemed to be a fountain that used to be in the backyard due to the dark gray outline of moisture left behind on the cement.

Twit actually got her hands dirty because Maw told her that her hands used to be nice and pretty when she was young but had use her hands later on in life to get any work done around the house and garden. The front ice plants of yellow flowers were being removed with one of her shovels by the four as I drove twice to retrieve gardening tools from our garage and our backyard.

After I handed Paw his favorite leather gardening gloves, I handed her a pair of our light green colored gardening gloves but she didn’t seem to want to put those on. Once again she didn’t seem the kind to get her nice and pretty hands and fingers dirty for now. My hands are rough and not as well manicured because of working too hard to care.

I immediately swept the sidewalk with the walis, a Filipino broom made of several long bamboo sticks wrapped together to form a handle on one end. I had to bend over and squat down low to get the full sweeping effects of this broom, which could get into the crevices of the sidewalk.

She got the long handled broom and she too began to sweep whatever dirt remained on the sidewalk. Maw got herself another walis because this is her preferred sweeping tool. Paw and Brat got to use shovels of straight and spade; hoes and pick axes.

I saw one millipede and many pill bugs both young and old running from the sidewalk to the lawn since their home of yellow flowering ice plants was being pulled, shoveled and raked. I kept sweeping them back; saying sorry and trying to avoid stepping on any one of them.

We piled our hard work in front of their house for pick up tomorrow Monday by the city. I then loaded up Paw tools (0r property as he mumbled under his breath) into the trunk. Maw got mad again thinking that the same plants needed to be removed from around the mailbox areas. The gardening activity took another hour or so.

We kept our energies up throughout the whole ordeal by eating and drinking whatever we brought over. I drank two bottled water; left over bear claw pastries from Maw and Twit popular coffee drink in a bottle, which she bought. I had to drink lots of liquid because I was still experiencing these headaches from lack of proper hydration.

The sentiment from both my bio-units and I is that although both airheads are in love; they do not seem to know what they are doing. We do not understand why they seem to take long too dump their properties into their new house and why it would take us three people only four hours to accomplish this cleaning when both had the whole week since Tuesday to clean.

We completed our first of lifelong ‘help’ to these airheads until 02:30PM. We left disgusted after both did not show proper respect and appreciation for our hard work by closing the garage door from the kitchen on us. They continued to talk about the keys to different doors as Paw tried to explain the various usages of rags left over to his son.

I had expected Twit to at least offer to take us out to lunch but once again her kinds to do seem to care. I will tell Brat to not get engage to her yet because she does not understand English all that well; basic protocol of being nice to people who could have used some decent nourishment from today’s work; and knowing better not to share keys to the house with her relatives unless going on a trip.

I am tired and had to pop our dirty clothes into the washing machine. My shower was tiring but refreshing starting at 03:00PM. I managed to get online to edit this blog starting at 03:20PM. I am not happy to know that our service to humanity in this form could be this physically exhausting. My rare headache continues to throb in my brain.

My logic prior to getting out of bed was that I was overweight and could use some needed exercise and that our cleaning their house right away would expedite their moving from our lives so they could start their own. Although there are differences in handling today’s event, Twit said ‘thank you’ to me softly at the garage door without looking and that was enough for me for now.
