Anesthesia numbs my right face, I chide.
From below right eye to chin, it’s one side.
Heaviness lingers in my face, I blog.
I did not drool on clean shirt like a slob;
took a cold shower that washes me clean;
and sighed a relief to my wondrous sheen.
Stayed calm in chair without protest or shout.
Cinnamon flavored cotton swab in mouth
numbed and prepped for two inserted needles.
I felt the quick stabs without the giggles;
waited in the chair while flesh swelled a bit;
and meditated for a few minutes.
Drill pierced ears and air in apprehension.
Was not scared but wide eyed in direction.
Opened and closed my mouth as instructed.
Tired, cold jaws quivered but conducted.
Old fillings came out without pain that time.
Could not speak, mumbled and motioned like mime.
Hungry tongue searched for missing cheeks and gums.
Anesthesia wears off, no longer numbs.
Drank bottled water, plastic straw with care.
Careful my drool does not fall anywhere.
Swallowed in slow motion towards my throat.
People who have cavities should not gloat.
For those lucky enough to have their teeth,
keep all you have to bite down hard and eat.
