While my younger sibling joined us briefly this morning, I kept reminding him to stop using his cellphone to connect online and browsing the internet. As an older fart of a sister, I meant well and tried to encourage him to pay more attention to nature, like the clouds, which are fleeting for the moment. And unlike the internet, most content are archived and ready for viewing later on.
My mindset was inspired from YouTube.com video linked in an article by a dedicated blogger. It’s true that people depend on the machine, a virtual reality of impersonal people behind the screens of computer and immediate, sensational, newsworthy information that doesn’t affect anyone but ruin the lives of people who are trying to live as normally as possible.
It’s true that people depend on electricity to power their electronic toys and modern day appliances, which makes life easier and more convenient but no better than the reality of dealing with the dynamics found in ordinary relationships. The good things in life is living in the moment.
And this means taking time to talk with people with real problems, people you love or love to hate and helping them resolve issues that, although some adults should be old enough to know better, may require some guidance from wise people with wisdom.
If only the few stubborn, evil-minded people would listen (such as the divorced nutter next door to us), then there would be no war or need for technology that separates man from nature or at least the enjoyment of outdoor living and working under the sun without worry of unnecessary reliance on energy via oil, which equates to cellphones needing a recharge or to anything not fueled for free by the sun’s life-giving photon energy.
