Topic #44: What traits of your parents are you inheriting? Are you happy about that, or did you resolve never to be like Dad or Mom?
—
I’m inheriting Dad’s traits. The saying goes that the oldest child will be most likely that of the father. Although Dad doesn’t have skin problems, his youngest brother have acne, just like me. I’ve got hard of hearing from his mother and poor eyesight, too. My jawline is especially broad and wide, just like Dad. And the projection of our voices can be LOUD and uncontrollable at times. We have a tendency to associate single words with many non-related ideas.
I’m also inheriting Mom’s traits. Although Mom is creative in drawing birds with a pencil, stitching embroidery of small leaf and flowery designs, sewing of clothes without using patterns, cooking without recipes, dancing gracefully and singing melodiously, I’ve got some of her facial features, roundness of face, smaller eyes, and sunny disposition. She doesn’t say bad worse but she does get emotional, which I usually get when watching sad movies. I see that I’ve got lots of patience from both parents but I’ve inherited the concern for Mom, just like she did when she was taking care of her mother.
