20221029-2135. Was it yesterday when I chatted with a staff who shared an easier way to change the Default template to whatever?

Yeah well, in the past few minutes (that was after supper, which was after taking a few more hours fuming over what to do next), I’ve learned how to edit the six main templates that affected my KJV biblical project:

  • Single – The default template for displaying any single post or attachment.
  • Page – Displays a single page.
  • Header and Footer only
  • Footer only
  • Header
  • Footer

The rest can be left as-is or default or alone. This site is using the Blockbase theme by team Automattic.

For my Footer template, I modeled that after the sos.ca.gov website. Looks familiar? I’ve mirrored that footer for all my sites: “Angels”, “Paws”, and “Verses”.

These sites include the paragraph containing my favorite King James Bible random verse generator button that; my customized navigator menu of static pages; and the paragraph of my domain.

For my Header template, I’ve opted to remove the Site Title and Site Tagline and left the Site Icon that’s rounded and the navigator menu for my two social icons: Twitter and YouTube.

For my Single post, I tweaked the Post Title and added the Previous Post and Next Post blocks, which is similar to Pagination block. Then I centered the Comments Pagination block.

For my Page template, I used same Header and Footer blocks. I edited and placed the Post Title below the random verses so readers, mostly moi, would focus on the Word of God.

For the Header and Footer Only and Footer Only templates, I had to make sure the Featured Image is inside a Group. The Header and Footer Only template is set for my 66 static “Book” pages. The Footer Only template is my front, home, landing page, which I modified but will edit again because the mobile preview looks squashed.

So that the Featured Image does NOT overwhelm the page, I set the Width to None and switched on the toggle for the Layout > Inner blocks use content width feature.
