Well, if someone told the old woman that she should not fear the legal system and that he might continue abusing other women if she backed down, then there might have been many chances to save other lives.

But as usual, the damn system failed to protect its citizens from psycho nutters. Trust me. We have one living next door to us. She accuses all females (co-workers, family, friends) of having affairs with her one-eyed second husband. Kept calling the cops to no avail.
