Marine Weather Statement until Thursday, January 17, 2019, 00:00 PST
…VIGOROUS STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING THUNDERSTORMS AND GUSTY WINDSTO THE COASTAL WATERS TODAY
A vigorous storm system will bring widespread gale force winds
and isolated to scattered thunderstorms throughout the waters
today.
These thunderstorms can produce erratic gusty winds, locally rough
seas, brief intense downpours, hail, dangerous cloud to surface
lightning, and the potential for waterspouts.
Lightning has already been detected just beyond the outer water
zones and radar imagery shows discreet deeper convective cells
which indicates thunderstorms activity.
In addition, local storm force gusts are possible through coastal
gaps, such as the Golden Gate gap.
Mariners should be advised of these hazards which are expected to
exist through this evening. Please report any waterspouts the
Coast Guard or the local harbormaster.
