Yesterday evening, I practiced singing the music from my new eMobile edition of the “Choral Praise” and saw something annoying from one of the page:
“The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops had determined that tablet devices may not be used liturgically (that is, at the ambo/pulpit).”
My first fuming thought was that I didn’t spend money on a new NOOK eReader, the bookcover/stand, a stylus pen, and countless hours scanning/saving/uploaded other useful but PAID material for my personal use and choral performance for a bunch a control freaks to tell us what we can and cannot do with our new toys, err, electronic devices!
My second thought was that the ambo/pulpit is usually made out of wood. And since electronic tablets are NOT made out of pieces paper, it’s only appropriate to use printed material, such as a book and not an eBook.
Maw wondered: What difference does it make if people sing from the choir section or at the ambo/pulpit? It’s the same air inside the same building!
Ah! But the wise cracker immeditely understood what this meant: that publishers and owners of copyrighted material won’t profit if people didn’t buy their printed material over the convenience of electronically saved copies!
That’s right! It’s all about serving Mammon over loving God!
