Well, I’m up past midnight. After using the almighty latrine since 01:00AM, I have been browsing the WordPress.com ‘FAQ’ section and discovered ‘widgets’ and how both ‘image’ and ‘text’ could be included into the sidebar menu, which was my first attempt by modifying ‘Text 1’ widget and to my dissatisfaction. My old Yahoo! 360 ‘avatar’ took up too much space and pushed down the other widgets.
So I decided to add a separate ‘Text 2’ widget for my e-mail address for those who wish to ‘Contact Me’. I read how an increase of spam is possible by linking the e-mail address. The WordPress.com ‘FAQ’ does suggest an alternative on how to avoid receiving spam by separating both the ‘at sign’ and the ‘dot sign’ from the rest of the e-mail address. I merely placed the word ‘at’ and ‘dot’ inside the brackets: [@] and [dot], respectively.
At 02:53AM, I’ve manage to add ‘Text 3’ widget near the top of the left sidebar menu. This was after modifying an image of ‘smilies’ I could use via WordPress.com. I tried entering the shortcuts into the text box and (to my dismay) got no smiley! After cutting and pasting the image of one smiley from a word document into a ‘paint’ program, I saved the image as .bmp in error (thanks to the WordPress.com message) and then .jpg properly and uploaded the first widget, ‘Mr. Green’, into my account.
I plan to upload the remaining twenty-one ‘smilies I could use’ as I continue to edit this particular blog. Oh great, I should have copied and pasted the ‘link’ to each one of my smiley for ease of updating my ‘Text 3’ widget, which represents my ‘Current Mood’ of the day. So face a smiling green face will do for now and I’m not sleepy either!
