You know the familiar phrase: "Everything is/going to be okay." Living is not okau. I'm good at remembering the bad and ugly details of life, an illusion filled with denials and lies upon lies meant to keep one from going insane. During eulogies at one's funeral, only good memories are shared with family and friends.
For example, Dawn has been married to Bert for over ten long years. While both can get along in general, pretty differences, such as her being a follower of Feng Shui compliance and him being a hoarder of paper crap and other junk, keep the relationship alive.
For whatever reason, the boy is still married to the girl, even though they are putting up with each other's crap on the grounds that they cannot force each other to do whatever they want or need. Their motives in life is to continue living separate lives, only to come together during "quality times". Their upbringing and cultural differences won't matter, because that's the way they like it and no one can stop them from fooling each other.
