20221010-1349. Welp, my bad! I tried to Connect my domain with a WordPress.com account and won’t be doing that anymore!
I can-NOT recreate/mirror the layout/appearance of this dark background and green colored theme with white text!
So I’ll keep the self-hosted site due to the customized email address tied in with the domain name.
And I’ll place my wpcomstaging site as Private mode AND as a backup site, which I thought would work the other way around: NOT so, Flynn, NOT so!
Yeah, so I was waiting since yesterday for the system to burp my site back online. Then just about one hour ago, I kept getting inspiring incoming thoughts from of old!
I remember chatting with the support staff over at Gandi.net and learned about deleting the DNS records from the Table Mode.
Yup. I’m learning about this self-hosting and/or server stuff but won’t have the patience with myself or my elderly father who wants to return to Catholic mass settings or other parishioners who are vaccinated!
But that’s besides the point! The self-hosted WordPress Simple Instance platform works like a charm with the basic/free version Jetpack stuff already “plugged-in”.
I tried one time to upgrade Jetpack but it wanted me to set-up a server, which I bought, good until November. But I got stuck at step one per the email of the support staff.
My bad, really! I would prefer leaving these “behind the scenes” stuff to the managers or professional who know what THEY are doing.
My blogging site is NOT professional and I should NOT have upgraded or paid for stuff. BUT I really wanted the colorful themes!
Yup. So I’ll blog here and stop trying to transfer out or connect the domain. I’ll pay my monthly at my current host provider, since their dashboard is pretty smooth.
If only I had the patience and understanding on HOW TO RUN A SITE, then y’all won’t hear me complaining or whining – daily!
I wanted to try to transfer this WordPress.com account to my main WordPress.com account. But I was afraid of losing control over between the self-hosted platform and the wpcomstaging site.
I don’t think I needed separate WordPress.com accounts. But I “sensed” that this was important, in case I wanted to get rid of the “free-version” and stay with the “self-hosted” platform.
See? Voila!
So I exported the three posts into the wpcomstaging site and THEN exported all the posts back into the self-hosted site to be sure I captured my recent posts.
Then there’s the project of dumping my OLD yeeted blogs back into my active blog. But like I said, there were too many personal information and vile rants. My bad!
Oh, and back to how my incoming thoughts manifested. I was waiting ONE full day for the automatic stuff to happened: it didn’t!
So I took it into my own grimy paws/human hands to Add two DNS Records: One is type A and the other is type AAAA.
I set the TTL and the Value. I only had ONE small screenshot and the chatting session as references!
See? Voila! Within freaking minutes, the error message “I’d like to fix it now” had all but disappeared!
That’s why it’s VERY important to take good notes in TXT and lots of freaking screenshots and group each event under logically sorted FOLDERS!
See? Voila! Me SMART! Not really but just barely enough to make my site ALIVE and breathing once again.
I’m free! Not really since there’s the monthly stuff.
That’s all for now. Happy Blogging! FlynnsPaws.
Hello Flynn, nice, and good luck!
