20230610-1239. One day my parents and I decided to visit our unbuilt property up in Mendocino County. The normal route was northbound Highway 101.

But on our way back, I got lost and knew that I should take the straighter path and follow the sign that lead back to Highway 101.

I took the “scenic route” along Highway California 1 and the switchbacks were terrible and the automatic transmission for our white 2-door Honda Accord sedan had to be repaired.

But the scenic route of endless fields, small farms and houses, and beautiful oceans, cliffs and sunset was worth that once-in-a-lifetime travel. We would never go that route again.
