While keeping Maw company at the hospital, we were watching an HBO video. It featured Carol Burnette and Vicki Lawrence (from Mama’s Family, a show that we used to watch). Tim Conway was also part of the show. It was from 1:00pm to 1:30pm. Then the television access was rebooted by the IT department and we never got to watch anymore programmings for the mind.
I jotted down some notes from the sketch in which Eunice repeated over and over again to the shrink: `I’m okay. You’re okay. Mama’s okay.` She was barely able to say the third sentence. I sympathize with Eunice. That’s how my relationships with Maw feels.
Below is another quote in bold by Eunice that will remind me on how to deal with difficult people:
30. In the final sketch on The Carol Burnett Show, Eunice goes to a shrink and tries to turn her life around. Mama ends the sketch saying that Eunice will “never amount to anything!” Eunice proudly says her final words, “When confronted with a foe, bless them, praise them, and let them go.”
