Before lunch and on that fine sunny day, Paw and I went to the USPS to drop off my second to the last of a government help. And en route to the local drug store, we waited behind the boy at the railway intersection.
He was driving his black-colored Ford Mustang, which had a light-weight, steel hitch for hauling his little boat. He wanted to show off his `toy` but we took off at the road intersection of our home. I sort of waved but Paw and I proceeded to our second destination and then our third, which was to pick-up four large side orders of Chow Mein for $3.25 each.
I noticed one scruffy-bearded guy sitting at the table to the central eating place and near McDonalds. He was unblinking, staring off into space. This could mean he is mind-controlled. I stared at him and noticed that he looked like one of my classmates from high school. Then again that was long time ago.
I was thinking about him for the past few days. The scene was at our guitar class and the teacher was asking all sorts of technical questions about music, which I should know all that well. I was more of a sight reader when playing my pieces. All I recall was him looking at me:
`You play piano. You should know all this`.
Anyway, Paw and I waited the usual five minutes for our order while the rest of the meat eaters bought theirs. We picked up the food and walked back towards the greasy restaurant where the guy was sitting. I saw that there were large spectacles of light brown color and plastic, too. It looked too old and `owl-like` for his small skull and blue eyes.
I mumbled under my breath `IHS`, the initials to my high schools. It was too bad that I didn’t think of offering food until I was already on the road going home bound. We arrived home at around 13:00pm that day and found that the boy was no longer there.
The boy called later on to find comfort of recognition of his second but replaced hitch. All I could do is spew positive affirmations to justify his happiness. It’s too bad his materialism gives him comfort while people are starving. He is still wasting money on inanimate objects.
