OMG! The ‘div style’ code for vertical scrollbars works well for the free, WordPress.com themes that contain sidebars. But when widening the ‘content’ portion and thereby forcing the sidebar to become a bottom-bar, it’s a pain to ‘center’ the ‘content’ for same themes via the paid CSS upgrade! This required shortening the width to the ‘rap’ and ‘menu’ sections to 500px with 475px for the ‘content’ section. As a result the pages (and posts) with the ‘vertical scrollbars are now off-centered! The width for two of the pages is set from 450px to 490px.
I don’t like a very long sidebar and tried to make my old ‘DayDream’ theme work. I went through the ‘Almost Spring’ theme and others but was not satisfied. Basically, I want a self-hosted webpage that doesn’t require using the ‘main scrollbar’ of the internet browser. The elements should be ‘static on the ‘front page’, too. All I have are the ‘contents’ (or ‘page’) and ‘sidebars’ (or ‘menus’) to work with and those are not enough for me.
I saw how the display of books were located at the bottom of the ‘front page’ from that Christian-based website, which inspired how I wanted the ‘Signed books by DB’ to appear on the bottom of my weblog site too. But in order for that to work, I had to find more codes.
The WordPress.com forums had a link from one of the members that directed me to a website that generated an ‘HTML’ table, which I used in a ‘dummy’ (or ‘Unpublished) post via Manage > Posts under the Dashboard.
Of course, I checked the ‘Keep this post private’ to ensure noone sees the mess I’ve been making while tweaking the HTML codes for pasting into my ‘text widget’ via Design > Widgets under the Dashboard. I kept using the ‘Edit image’ feature to find the best ‘width’ for the four images. The resize at 60% was around the ‘ width = 112 ‘ that I needed to fit all four in a row.
The best way to view my weblog site is to set the screen resolution at 1024 by 768 pixels. This ensures that the ‘Older Entries’ and ‘Newer Entries’ are visible at the bottom of each page (or post). It’s like turning the pages of a typical book ‘backward’ and ‘forward’ respectively only in reverse order due to the nature of the blogging posts are sorted in descending order, staring with the most recent post.
I hate being my own web designer. But this is the best I could do for now. I wonder how difficult it is to learn PHP and SQL. But gee, since the boosting and blasting of the TPTB seems to be ineffective, I cannot afford to take those nice computer classes where I could meet some smart people (i.e. guys) and eventually start a small business of some sort. But y’all don’t seem to care anyways.
