Helplessness: that dark, sick feeling of not being the one at the reins. When did you last feel like that — and what did you do about it?
I was un/deremployed, was broke and was in dire straits financially. I was stressed and depressed but mostly annoyed at TBTP and frustrated at their “cover-up”. They still owe hundreds of others like me, by the way. Hehe.
So I called up my head hunter and actually sounded panicked over the phone because my unemployment benefits ran out. There was no Federal extension at that time. They found me a temporary job for nine months and that helped pay down my debt. But it wasn’t enough.
I tried to seek legal remedy within three months of first contact with the fat bastard and pals. But like most Americans, I was too poor to retain an attorney/lawyer/barrister. I could have filed for bankruptcy against the debtor years later, but that wasn’t my style: I still trusted them and had faith in the Lord.
So my only option was “Freedom Debt Relief”, which helped keep the calls from flooding the main landline but I felt I paid too much interest/price for their services, much like what most home mortgage owners do when they re-finance/consolidate their debt. Bahaha.
Then I got served by AMEX in the evening. They have their own ways of getting money unlike other financial/banking institutions. I read about their practice years before my problems. Now I know. That’s why my local oil change company doesn’t accept AMEX and Chevron cards.
Within a week of receiving my first legal papers, Maw sensed something was wrong. She gently inquired and I dropped the bombshell of reality to her and Paw. They were saddened and disappointed. They both agreed to help me.
Had it not been for my parents, I would have been homeless. They helped pay for my credit card debt, which is my newest unpaid loan to them. For them, I am grateful and thankful forever. When/if I get/keep a good paying job, I’d like to reapay them, someday.
But working a regular, full-time job won’t be the case ever, since I unwittingly/unwillingly volunteered to observe/learn about my assignment as “external auditor”. The fat bastard knows by reading my blog. I wonder how he and others could sleep at night, knowing what mess their design has created to volunteers like me.
