Prior to evening mass tonight, I told Maw how the boy is like his Paw: both are jokers. I tried to explain to her the indwelling “frivolous spirit” enjoys every moment messing with people.
For example, the boy visited his OLD family Thursday night, which was two “days” ago. He greeted us normally but kept his dirty marathon running shoes of dark-gray and fluorescent green on! I kept repeating “unkindly” that he remove his shoes.
He wouldn’t comply immediately and continued to walk around the place. Moreover, I continued to rag on him to remove his shoes. What he did later on didn’t surprise me: He jumped up and down and danced on our wooden floor! He smiled all the while!
Of course, I could only continue drying the dishes, knowing eventually he would make himself feel at home by removing his sneakers. He did so and ignored Maw’s new baby pillows, which she made for the twit wifey and him.
Tonight is another example, Paw would repeatedly say the name of Jackie Evancho incorrectly. The televised commercial says she’s coming to town. He does this to many words, including Montague Expressway. He would pronounce that word weird – Mon-tah-hue.
Call it whatever y’all want: OCD, ADD, lightheartedness, etc. I think the parasitic spirit possesses most of us and no one is immune to this truth.
