I’m NOT fit. Everyday is a struggle to keep up with daily/nightly activities as my body and mind age. Once, I was fast and sharp as a pickle. (I happen to love sweetened pickles, thank you.) Now, I find myself forgetting little things, like what I ate or did last night and what I’m supposed to do next after turning my back on a thought for a moment. My brain is foggy and, as a result, the lack of concentration to understand clearly, besides my bad hearing since childhood, and focus to get some things done quickly and with ease takes a LONG time.
For example, since I’m in the main choir of my local parish, the only way to memorize almost a dozen pieces in, say, one week’s time, is to rehearse a dozen times or more at the comfort at my home. Sure, I wanted to prove to the choir conductor/music director that we old timers are still good. But, since I was a newbie, I had to try extra hard and hit not only the “perfect pitch” but to also “hear” the notes as I’m reading off the notes from the sheet music instead of casually pretending that I know the music well enough to perform live.
As for my body, I mentioned in my other writing challenge of my physical well-being. That has been taken cared-of with one statin medication, a nutritious diet, and low-impact exercise. But, I’m not feeling the same and probably never will because of all the changes going on with most middle-aged women. Thankfully, I still have my hormones to help regulate the metabolism of my still overweight body. I do feel more alert, too!
With the attendance of daily mass and as a un/deremployed former cubicle slave of Silicon Valley since 2007 when I left my last good job/big-ass international company, I find my spiritual side also has the opportunity to reflect on how hard-work did pay off. Although most of my finances have been “tithe” off to the Illuminated group and pals, the “knowledge” gained is priceless. And even if I do share such highly-prized pieces of CONFIDENTIAL data, no one would believe in a “conspiratorial” nutcase, such as me. Oh well…
So, I thank the Lawd for allowing me a balanced and healthy free-range lifestyle, like a chicken – to eat, sleep, and relax comfortably with two very loving and understanding parents, who without their spiritual intervention, strong faith, and sincere prayers, I would have been DEFINITELY homeless, hungry, and maybe left for dead, which would have been my case for those newly “initiated” wanna-be’s into a fold of other in/out-worldly species and basically observed daily from afar, like a unwilling/unwitting lab rat – a clean one, of course, and not a dirty kind.
