Simply Blog Home

20250122-2309. So I just found out about the Blog Home template, which was where I left off after many failed revisions to the Front Page template!

It’s so simple. Why didn’t I see this before?

I spent many hours of stressing over the colors and details with the Front Page template that I finally decided enough is enough!

Moments ago, I deleted the Front Page template after saving my hard work (of course) as a “pattern”.

I felt relieved and renewed and refreshed all bundled together!

I can’t believe theme 2025 pulled-through this time. I’m using the Default color scheme and the fonts are clear and appear LARGER.

The basic lighter background color against the darker font color works out VERY well for eyeballs that are impaired, err, those with impaired vision.

(I guess the “night mode” visual display is turned-on and so the usual brightness of the Default color scheme does NOT seem to hurt my eyeballs!)

So that’s it: just one post front and center with the header (containing my three Site Profiles, my three hamburgers (Navigation menu for external and internal links) and a jump-page link) and the footer (containing a Search bar, a jump-page link, and credits for the theme, host and unto moi, of course).

That’s all. End of temporary satisfaction 2318 PST.

Hello Flynn, congratulations on finding the Blog Home template, last night or the night before, you inspired me to try different themes. Now I am trying Twenty Twenty Five again, I spent too much time editing the different templates to add widgets, sounds familiar. 😉 For the background color, I chose the cream color one, a very subtle off-white that reduces the brightness a bit but not too much.

      Hi, John Jr.

Yes, the various Theme 2025 templates are okay as Default, in my opinion.

I’ve edited these Default templates to my dissatisfaction and ended up selecting the Reset for each template.

There only template that I added/customized/tested was the Front Page template, which I deleted last night.

I had 77 revisions to this customized template. That meant I didn’t know what I wanted and it didn’t work out in the end.

Good luck with your blog! You’re welcome to more inspirations from me and others online!

      Regards,
      FLYNN

        Hello Flynn,

I also had reset my templates in Twenty Twenty Five, which is why I had to spend so much time adding widgets back. 😀

I think I am at 60 revisions on that theme. 😀

        Thank you.

I came close to just not adding widgets, since modern WordPress.com themes seem to not use them much these days.

I was going to just let my About page be where the widgets are, at least the ones that it lets you add on a page, but I still was not ready to give them up. 😀

        Hi John Jr,

I assume/believe the general trend would lean/is probably geared towards those who use mobile devices, especially for those who are too busy to sit down/still in one place/front of a regular computer desktop, except maybe for games who need larger landscapes.

Yeah, I was STILL trying to get my site to look like yours but I STILL need my colors! So I’m viewing your site through my mobile device and the widgets are stacked up nicely spaced, too.

I could go on such as noticing you duplicated your About page links three times!

So far so good until next time!

        Hello Flynn,

Yep, mobile devices do seem to be the main focus.

Yeah, most default WordPress themes could use more color. 😉

Do you mean how I have my primary menu in the header, footer, and I have the pages widget in the footer?

      4. FLYNN Avatar

        Yes, John Jr,

I believe you have your primary menu/pages widget in the header above, in the footer below and somewhere in the middle near the footer.

P.S. I replied to this comment from my WordPress dashboard because the Elementor/WordPress widget is funky and doesn’t have a reply to comment link or align properly the Avatars floating/hovering over the text. Sometimes, it’s fun to design. But sometimes, it feels like a waste of effort/time. Just saying.

        That’s all.

        Flynn.

Thank you Flynn, I might remove the Pages widget to bring it down to 2. 😀

I am also replying from the WordPress.com Dashboard, because it seems that some of my comments are possibly not coming through the normal way.

Like my comment last week in response to your comment about Linux, I possibly shared a link to a Google Doc that I made with various links about Ubuntu LTS that should help you.

      6. FLYNN Avatar

Yes, I got the links and wasn’t sure/cannot recall if I didn’t/did setup the dashboard Discussion settings to allow comment approvals automatically. So I’ll go ahead and approve that one comment. All your recent comments are approved. That’s all. Flynn. P.S. I haven’t looked at the documentations yet! Do I have the patience? No! But I should try at least. 😐
