To remove backseat of Mercedes Benz E430, push up on this clip, one of two found on either side of back seat. Underneath the passenger side of this backseat is the battery for recharging and replacing.
Here is my story:
En route to lunch at Barrios Fiesta (Milpitas, CA) on Monday, we noticed that one of the seatbelts behind the driver’s side was missing! Dad couldn’t buckle up! When we brought the car back to the auto collision repair shop a few weeks ago, Junior (the boss of the place) and his VERY handsome, James Dean Mexicano-version named Clement, helped us replace the loose back seat. But we overlooked the missing seat belt at that time! Argh!
After this morning’s breakfast, we wanted to bring the car back to that place, which really had NOTHING to do with the loose back seat. But they probably did to do something with the battery during the repairs. In between chews of my luncheon meat and swigs of freshly brewed coffee, I told myself (since I got my parents into this mess) that I was determined to fix it! So, I tried referring to the manual book from the glove compartment but there was nothing. I went online and found no photo or video to help me. Only the text of the Mercedes Benz world dot org site mentioned that is was “easy” and there were clips to “push up”.
So, I went back to the parked car inside our garage and felt underneath for any clues. I noticed the gap on the end was big enough for my fingers to reach. Then I kept praying for guidance/relaxed my nerves and mind. I kept feeling around inside that gap and noticed that something was moving “up” with a gentle push of my fingers! Voila! I pushed up on that one clip and then the other clip and out popped the beat seat! I was so proud of myself that this un/deremployed, fugly girl could be her own HANDY-MAN! I feel like MacGyver!
The inspiration came from a story of a WHITE dad who taught his two kids, now grown adults, how to repair their own cars. One day, the daughter got stranded. She was in the middle of nowhere and no one was there to help her. But because she remembered what her father taught her, she managed to replace her flat tires and got herself out of the place and back home. Also, I recalled how an MB service representative came to our garage to recharge our drained battery. I noticed how easy it was for him to remove the backseat and I needed to learn how to do so this morning!
Thanks Lawd for allowing this/my hidden talent to be of good use for my two elderly parents. Amen!
