I just released a big brown moth into the backyard. It was twilight. The critter had gone missing since I last saw it yesterday at around 11:00pm. When I flicked on the electrical switch, I heard a noisy thud a couple of times and a flying brown moth near the pole lamp. Of course, certain spiders will continue to be vacuumed as a precaution from being bitten.
Anyway, the moth was located in the dim of the bathroom. Maw had finished taking a shower and I saw it motionless above the bathroom window. So I had to devised a plan of its capture and release. But, first, I had to help Maw with moisturizing her lower extremities. She is always out of breath after each shower.
After that was done, I grabbed a folder chair, the glass cover to the ginger scented candle from my “friend/family” and a piece of paper, which serves as a make-shift “roof” for my signed books. Then I stood on the chair, cupped it with the glass cover and carefully slid the paper underneath the critter. The moth wasn’t responding but it moved a little and onto the paper. I saw that one of its foot got caught in between the glass and paper and I had to adjust the containment.
Then I went downstairs; opened the backdoor and “dumped” it atop the recycling bin. It didn’t move from it place. I left. Good night.
