While I’m waiting for the WordPoopers to restore my FlynnsPaws.me site, I am getting this same deja vu as I am typing out this sentence! It’s like a never ending story of discovery and re-discovery.
Currently, I’m just appreciating my new second weblog site Flynns-Paws.com site.
Once again, I really wanted a “book” which “chapters”. And since I’m enjoy reading spiritual stuff which is probably mixed in with the occults, I was able to create something normal.
But in order to achieve this nice weblog, I had to go PRO and buy a domain name, which is free for the first year! That’s a good deal!
The rest is probably creative. I no nothing about designing elements or SQL or PHP. I rely on whatever my blog host allows the user to use. Get it?
Like I said, I found and downloaded a .CSV file containing I believe the Cambridge version of the King James Bible verses on May 18th.
But the CVS importer kept on failing on the FlynnsPaws.me site! This plug-in app (plug-ins come with the PRO package) was NOT tested on my weblog version. But the support said it’s okay.
Like I said, I got frustrated and deleted ALL of these uploaded .CSV files, including my precious static pages, which I could NOT restore by importing the .XML file or by restoring via the Jetpack Backup (which also comes with the PRO package).
There was something slowing down my experience either the Brave app or the sheer size or volume of these files.
Since, I already started a second weblog for FREE, I was getting impatient and signed-up for PRO! Voila!
The CVS Importer worked wonderfully, except I could NOT override the post_ID or the post_date of the CSV file!
I was NOT sure if I should upload post_type as Post or as Page and I decided to go with the Post halfway until I saw the URL Permalink included the date of 2022/05/20!
I went to my WordPress.com Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks. The “Common Settings” is “Month and name” setting but I changed that to my preferred “Post name” setting, which looked like a “Static Page”!
By uploading .CSV files to post_type as Post, I can enter as many post_category and post_tag: both of which helped to “program” the /?random button, which is the main feature to “Flynns-Paws.com” site.
Uploading .CSV files to post_type as Page is limited to post_name, post_author, post_title, and post_status, which I would initially set as “draft” and then later confidently set as “published” which the site has NOT yet been public.
The post_content contains the text, which I learned that a single spreadsheet cell cannot hold too many characters at once.
Thank goodness the King James Bible verses are short and sweet and each spreadsheet cell is able to handle the limited character texts.
I tried combining ALL verses under its own chapters using the .CSV files but like I said, one spreadsheet cell is limited to a certain amount of characters.
One chapter contained over one thousand verses! And that’s too much for one spreadsheet cell!
So I had to manually copy the HTML codes by sampling my post blocks AND then manually paste the HTML codes into a spreadsheet to Save As a CVS file for importing into my WordPress.com database whatever.
Yes, I know a little coding for “window dressing” the appearance or layout when I was actually trying to make my OLD weblogs site pretty by using CSS styles sheets.
I know Matt Meister should be pleased that PRO users should have a some knowledge with coding stuff. Coding is fun! Yup.
So the King James Bible verses were 31,103 upload entries and that took a couple of days or 24 hours after I bought a PRO package for the Flynns-Paws.com site.
That’s fast for a critical political loudmouth online. Those were handle “automatically” via the CVS Importer.
However, the manual stuff were the 66 books and one Index page, which is set as the Front page or static Home page to the Flynns-Paws.com site.
I’ll have to go back and remove the HUGE buttons, which look horrible on my small mobile phone!
I do NOT know enough Advanced CSS coding to tweak the buttons to look smaller and to adjust dynamically/automatically fit to different devices.
I believe the AMP settings might have something to do with why my Previous and Next buttons look HUGE!
Then I had to design a King James Bible header for the Flynns-Paws.com site. Lo and behold, I do NOT know how that happened!
I was designing through Adobe Photoshop 2022 and wanted to try 3D which I do NOT know how to use and I recall clicking something called embossed!
I liked the Layer but the preview or the work of how I arrived at this image did NOT show up and I ultimately saved the image without knowing how it turned out.
But I like it and set it as the Home page header from Default to Rounded, giving it a blue-pilled effect, which is probably symbolic to those who know the difference from a red-pill.
But I digress. I like the Gradient colors, which I borrowed/stole from the OLD WordPress/Automattic color scheme of orange, gray and blue.
For some reason, I cannot get my Original Logo set as a Cover Image, which continues to disappear or becomes washed out. I’ll probably send the contact support yet another whine, err, issue.
As for the randomizer button, THAT only works as a Post and NOT as a Page.
So like I said, I was halfway importing CSV post_type as Post when I saw the permalink slug URL with 2022/05/20, which is common for both the AMP and blog host.
And I sent those posts to Trash but did NOT permanently delete, in case I change my mind and proceeded to import CSV post_type as Page halfway AGAIN when an incoming thought was sent via my small mind to go check my Permalink settings!
Bam! I now I have to Restore the posts that I intially deleted halfway and continue uploading the rest of the way when I discovered that: when I searched my blog for a text “Genesis-001-001”, both page AND post returned the same text!
Why do I name the post_title unconventionally with dashes and NOT with colons to separate the chapters from the verses? Well, chumps, it’s because the sorting and query are easier for me when deleting stuff!
After all that effort, I then moved the duplicated offending uploaded pages to Trash but I probably should NOT delete those pages (once again) in case I change my mind!
With my Pivot Table (yes I used to do lots of spreadsheets in the accounting/financing department), I was able to bring up each of the 66 Books followed by a “dash mark” to pull up and verify the number of verses without worrying about if I deleted the wrong number of verses!
The only overlap was the Book of John. I see five separate books with two books having the same headings!
But with my file naming conventions that should have “helped” the CVS importer avoid duplicating my imports, which (like I said) took 24-48 hours to complete.
I now have to redo the buttons and verify why ONE verse is unaccounted due to my haste and excitement to Launch the Flynns-Paws.com site which visitors won’t notice anyways.
